Awareness about Smoking Risks

A recent survey reveals that youngsters are increasingly denying the health risks of cigarette smoking. In many states, youngsters perceived less risk from chain smoking more than a pack of cigarettes each day.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration says that all states are impacted by substance abuse. The good news is that illicit drug use among adolescents and teens fell in 17 states between 2002 to 2009.

Alaska, Hawaii, Maine, Oregon and Massachusetts are some states that report the highest abuse of marijuana and other illegal drugs. The report also reveals that about 7.2% of adults in Rhode Island suffer from serious mental ailments. This is the highest level in America.

South Dakota and Hawaii reported the least rate of mental patients, both reporting a rate of 3.5%.
