BIG NIGHT FOR PHELPS

After missing the medal podium in his first swim in London and taking a surprising silver in the 4x100 freestyle relay, Michael Phelps is back for two more shots at another gold medal on Tuesday. He will try to defend his title in the 200-meter butterfly and also swim in the 4x200 freestyle final.

Phelps had the fifth-fastest time in the 200 fly preliminaries on Monday, and he feels ready to go again.

"I'm pretty happy with that swim," Phelps said. "That's all I needed it to be."

'STUPID RULE'

"In this system it's a shame that the all-around champion doesn't get to compete in the finals at the Olympics because of a stupid rule." ? John Geddert, coach of reigning world champion Jordyn Wieber, who will miss a shot at Olympic gold in Thursday's Olympic gymnastics all-around finals because international rules allow only two competitors per country.

JUDO GEM

Marti Malloy earned the second-ever Olympic judo medal for an American woman, and she was ready.

She proudly displayed the bronze prize for photographers and offered to strike the traditional pose.

"I've been working on my bite," she said Monday night. "I'm not sure if it should be mean or happy."

The 26-year-old Malloy got into judo when her parents enrolled her in a free class on a military base when she was growing up in Oak Harbor, Wash. She went on to compete at San Jose State University, and 92-year-old coach Yoshihiro Uchida made the trip to London to see her big win.

Malloy's three brothers also learned judo when they were kids, and she said she felt fortunate to be involved with the sport.

"Judo is one of those sports that in the U.S. obviously isn't very well known but is the thing that will teach you the most about discipline, respect, hard work, dedication," she said. "I know all sports are like that but judo especially, those are the ideals that the sport is built around."

RATINGS WIN

The Nielsen company says 36 million people watched NBC's Olympic coverage Sunday night, the biggest audience for the second night of a non-U.S. summer Olympics competition since TV began covering them in 1960.

Counting the opening ceremonies on Friday, an average of 35.8 million people have tuned in for the three nights. That's well above the 30.6 million who watched the first three nights in Beijing in 2008 and considerably more than the 24 million who saw the first three nights of the Athens games of 2004.

STRICT MUM

Talk about strict parenting.

New Zealand kayaker Mike Dawson made the semifinals of the kayak slalom at the Olympics despite being given a two-second penalty by his mother Kay ? who is a judge at the games.

Dawson touched gate five when going down the 18-gate Olympic course on Sunday, and his mother didn't hesitate to penalize her son. It was one of two two-second penalties Dawson received, but he still advanced to Wednesday's semis.

Dawson joked in an email to The Associated Press on Monday that he was tempted to get his coach to put in a protest "about that particular judge."

It would have made dinnertime at the Dawsons even more awkward. His coach is father Les.

"That would've had all sorts of ramifications after the Olympics and besides, I like mum's cooking too much!" Dawson joked in his message to AP.

___

TWITTER INSULT INVESTIGATED

The Twitter insult against British diver Tom Daley has attracted the attention of police.

Daley's father died of brain cancer a year ago and the 18-year-old Olympian had hoped win a medal "for myself and my dad." But he finished finishing fourth, out of medal contention, in the 10-meter synchronized platform with teammate Pete Waterfield.

Afterward, Twitter user (at)Rileyy69 sent him this message: "You let your dad down i hope you know that."

Dorset Police tweeted tonight: "Regarding tweets to (at)tomdaley1994 - we are aware of the issue and we are actively looking into it."

In Britain, tweeting messages considered menacing, offensive or indecent can lead to prosecution.

POTUS WATCHING?

We know that FLOTUS (first lady of the United States Michelle Obama) has cheered on the Olympians from the stands in London. But what about POTUS (president of the U.S.), who stayed home?

The White House couldn't say Monday whether President Barack Obama has been watching but thought it likely.

"I know that he was looking forward to the Olympics starting so I'd be surprised if 72 hours into it he hadn't seen it yet," deputy press secretary Josh Earnest said as Obama flew Air Force One to New York for an evening fundraiser. Campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki joked that the Olympics would be forced on to all the plane's TVs to improve the odds.

Here's what could be seen in the back cabin: Korea v. Denmark in handball, and weightlifters from Indonesia and Turkey. No word on what Obama was doing up front.

HE'S NO SLOUCH

Nick Thoman almost left swimming after 2008, thinking then it might be time to try something else.

Now an Olympic silver medalist ? he and Matt Grevers went 1-2 in the men's 100 backstroke for the United States on Monday night ? Thoman is headed to school again, starting next spring.

"I didn't actually graduate college," Thoman said. "So I'm going to go back to school and get my degree so that I can do something with my life."

Whoa.

Do something with his life? Did he not notice the silver medal dangling from his neck? Everyone in the room giggled anxiously, waiting to see if Thoman would provide the punch line.

And he did.

"Something else," Thoman said, as the giggles turned into full-blown laughter.

NOISY NEIGHBORS

When the public address announcer at the Horse Guards Parade beach volleyball venue wants to get the crowd riled up, he reminds them that the prime minister's residence is virtually next door.

"Ladies and Gentlemen," he told the crowd at 10 p.m. during a break in the second of four Monday night matches, "I've just heard that prime minister David Cameron, or Dave as I call him, is trying to get a good night's sleep at 10 Downing Street."

The crowd booed.

He added: "He's just checked into a hotel."

HE SHOOTS, HE SCORES!

Happy Gilmore, you have your archery equivalent.

British archer Larry Godfrey delighted the crowd Monday as he celebrated reaching the men's individual 70-meter quarterfinals at Lord's cricket ground.

Adorned in aviator shades and bleached highlights, Godfrey emulated batting a six ? the equivalent of a home run in baseball ? after advancing.

"I thought it would be a bit of fun," he explained.

The 198-year-old venue is considered "The Home of Cricket."

The Bristol-based archer is hoping that home soil will be the trick for his first medal in three Olympics.

HTC shuts Seoul office, leaves Korea to the Koreans

Having already pulled out of Brazil and shut down a research building in North Carolina, HTC has now closed its office in the South Korean capital of Seoul. The move is part of the Taiwanese manufacturer's efforts to "streamline operations" and focus on selling One-branded handsets in markets where it stands a better chance of success -- rather like Nokia's geographic retreat following its commitment to Windows Phone, but here on a much smaller scale. It's not yet clear how many jobs will be lost, but HTC says it regrets the "direct impact on people who have contributed to the growth HTC has experienced in the past several years." As it stands, analysts reckon that Korean manufacturers like Samsung, LG and Pantech rule a 90 percent share of their home market, leaving HTC with just one or two points that evidently weren't worth clinging onto.

Religion no longer the wedding norm

Ha. No surprises to see the Church sticking its nose into the marriage equality debate. Its adherents probably don't even notice the irony. At the same time many are defending themselves as the best equipped to teach school children values, they're also posing as the pin-up models for homophobia, intolerance and discrimination. All in the name of God. Not for the first time, they're hiding behind their faith in an effort to disguise their base instincts.

Someone needs to tell them it's not working. Of all the opposition noise surrounding Louisa Wall's same sex marriage bill, 99 per cent has been drummed up in the name of religion. Let's not dodge that. After all possible shades of moaning from Christians about being persecuted and discriminated against, this issue brings us face-to-face with the reality. The Church still wants everyone, not just its disciples, to adhere to its own particular version of life.

Take the anti-gay marriage website recently set up to garner signatures for a petition against the bill. Apparently the handiwork of Family First, the National Marriage Coalition, Family Life and Focus on the Family, it tells us all we need to know about the main opponents of marriage equality: religious zealots. Not content with dedicating their own lives to God, they also want to dedicate yours and mine, whether we agree to it or not.

Family First avoids making too much of the God connection on its website; perhaps it knows the history of religious-based political parties. Even so, it still promises to place an emphasis on good Christian-Judeo values (such as homophobia and child hitting). The others aren't nearly as coy. Gay marriage opponents Family Life want a return to the "timeless principles of the Bible". Seems they have a biblical solution for everything, homosexuality included.

The website for Focus on the Family, a group that talks about "God's design and intention for biblical marriage", follows much the same path. God only knows what they're on about. It's as if these people think Wall's bill is an attempt to make same sex marriage compulsory. Every time a law is changed to emphasise the separation of church and state, to emphasise our secular community and the right to choose, they scream blue murder about being marginalised.

The excuses? They're about as specious as you can imagine. The institution of marriage? Please. You can get married as a joke as long as you're not gay. Procreation? Do us a favour. People are procreating all over the shop without bothering to get married. Marriage is a religious rite? Not for the majority: most of us are spurning church marriages and opting for non-religious arrangements. Inviting God to your wedding is no longer the norm.

But just on that: religion is, of course, perfectly entitled to claim its own definition of marriage. Just like a club (think of the Augusta golf club, which doesn't allow women members) it's allowed to set down its own lawful rules and insist its constituents abide by them. I've yet to find anyone who has a problem with that. The stumbling block only arrives when the club starts suggesting everyone else should live by its creed, whether they're paid-up members or not.

It's one of the reasons the marriage-equality issue has grabbed so much attention. It's not "just" a gay rights thing anymore, it's a battle between the secular and the Church; a fight for the freedom to live unencumbered by others' religious belief. That's why a majority of people, most of whom are palpably not gay, will be supporting the intent of Wall's bill. The right to freedom of religion is one thing. The idea of forcing it on everyone else?

That's something quite different again.

Insightful Thoughts on List of Real Estate Agents | Techsyslonghorn ...

It is necessary for anyone to obtain the list of real estate agents of their own country so they can look for a person to sell their own property. Those who work on this kind of business are called realtor. Individuals always do the job in behalf of you to enable you to sell your property. Truly they work for you so as to make your task simple and easy. They will make a connection with the property purchaser. They will make all the important things like law of agency, issuance of your property paper and so forth. They?ll provide you with a great buyer for your property so you can sell your property without difficulty without facing any trouble. The real estate realtors will perform all the things to give you a great buyer. Because of this, you?ll need the list of realtors of your city if you?ll sell your property. If you?ve got the list, you will not face any difficulty to have contract with the very best realtor for selling your own property.

List Of Real Estate AgentsWhenever you want to sell your home or any other property, real estate agent can be the most trustworthy source. Simply realtors can give you the latest information and news concerning the costs of the property along with financing as well as other conditions. The real estate agents used to purchasing the property from you and sell them to some other real estate agents as well as to the general public. You will get 100 % proof housing information coming from the real estate agents. For this reason, gathering the list of real estate agents will play a crucial role in your task of selling any property. It would be the best offer for you to gather and update your list of real estate agents if you want to sell your home or any kind of property safely. Those are the only people whom you could trust for selling your house or property.

In case your company sells books in the real estate niche, a great way to promote your products is to buy at the earliest opportunity a list of real estate agents. The most important benefit of doing so is that you don?t spend time creating the list all on your own. In case you have recently started a business, there simply isn?t time for such things. You are very busy with running your business, handling human and financial resources. Just think about the other option. You would spend a few months gathering a number of e-mails and simply afterwards you?d be able to start your own marketing campaign. This is very time-consuming, not forgetting the energy included. It is very probable that you will get annoyed along the way or dissatisfied because there won?t be a lot of people interested in your products. On one hand, if you purchase a list of realtors you can begin your campaign immediately. The transaction is done immediately and you often get the email list in a few days. The books as well as guides which you are selling will be advertised especially for real estate agents which are in fact the ones that you are attempting to help with the information in the books.

In the event your organization provides real estate business card making services, you must start promoting them appropriately. The best way to ensure an effective marketing campaign is giving emails to all those individuals who are interested in the service that your employees are accountable to deliver. This method is called targeted e-mail marketing. In your case, you have to start distributing emails to a list of realtors as they?re pretty much the sole ones who will be interested in ordering from your company a real estate business card. Nonetheless, your company may not be specializing in generating business cards. Do not worry if this is your state. Making use of a list of real estate agents you can advertise any kind of products relevant to this particular industry starting with desk plates which state the name of the agent and finishing along with pens, brochures, mortgage calculators or perhaps key tags. Each real estate agent needs a pen and a wisely made brochure which includes a list of prices and his previous sales. You may even advertise services that help agents produce a wonderful portfolio or resume.

Simply visit this site to know additional details on list of real estate agents.

Apple, Samsung faceoff in court over iPhone, iPad

SAN FRANCISCO: Two tech titans are squaring off in federal court tomorrow in a closely watched trial over control of the US smart phone and computer tablet markets.

Apple Inc. filed a lawsuit against Samsung Electronics Co. last year alleging the world's largest technology company's smart phones and computer tablets are illegal knockoffs of its popular iPhone and iPad products.

The Cupertino, California-based company is demanding USD 2.5 billion in damages, which if awarded would dwarf the largest patent-related verdict to date.

Samsung counters that Apple is doing the stealing and some of the technology at issue such as the rounded rectangular designs of smart phones and tablets have been industry standards for years.

The US trial is only the latest skirmish between the two over product designs.

ViewSonic announces a duo of budget-friendly LED monitors

As gorgeous as huge, expensive monitors are, most situations just don't call for the inches or wallet-dents associated with today's luxury screens. With this in mind, and barely a breath after outing its $299, 27-inch LED offering, ViewSonic is back with two budget displays from the VA12 series. First up is the VA2212m-LED, which rocks a 1080p widescreen, 21.5-inch panel, 10,000,000:1 contrast Ratio, DVI and VGA inputs, as well as a pair of 2W integrated speakers. Running with ViewSonic's eco-friendly theme, both mercury-free LED monitors also boast the eco-mode feature for low power consumption and a longer life. Toronto Team Building Activities to produce Your Business Team More

It is very easy for a business office staff to become complacent. They can fall into a routine where they become very impartial and rely on their fellow workers much less. While this may seem like the best thing, many office duties can be accomplished quicker and much better when the team can them as a whole as opposed to relying on the input of only one person. If your business is in Toronto, team development activities from a business like XPEERience Group will help create that ?we? attitude again.

This company specializes in Team Building Toronto activities in a number of settings. Choosing the proper team development activities is important while setting up an event this way as it is important to ensure all staff members are comfy with the events. In the end, it would not serve an objective to alienate employees during a team building actions as you want everyone to participate in the events.

One of the more popular packages with regard to Toronto team building activities will be the Ultimate Xpeerience. This package encompasses low physical impact activities for example dodgeball, water balloon toss, and volleyball in addition to more demanding team building activities like the blow up obstacle course and the outdoor rockwall. Most business employers will have a pretty good notion of what their staff is capable of and can choose the team building activities that may work best for their employees.

The beauty of an outing such as this is that the majority of employees forget exactly why they are actually presently there in the first place. They are getting so much fun, they naturally form a better bond with their many other workers and improve the teamwork attitude that has been missing from your office. So how really does all of this actually integrate itself back into the business office?

Something that a lot of companies is going to do is have a personnel meeting to discuss the actual outing the next time the whole staff is together in the office. Keep it very everyday and talk about the various events and how your winning teams was able to perform so well. Preserve stressing how they utilised each person?s strengths to help you the team perform better.

Once this subject gets rolling, begin to bring up examples of assignments around the office which are delayed because the ?team? was not working together. Keep in mind this isn?t a disciplinary meeting, just a reinforcement of how successful it is to work together. From that point, hand out the identical assignment to both of these people and teams. Give them a limited time to focus on them and then hold a meeting later inside the day to monitor development.

While there may be many people capable of pulling off of the upset victory, most of the time, the teams can present a better and more complete project. This is when management can bolster the idea of how essential it is to work as a team whenever possible instead of operating alone all the time. It certainly won?t be long before the entire business office benefits from the Toronto team development activities they liked during the outing.

Talks to be delivered at 2012 International AIDS Society Conference

PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] Policymakers struggling to stop the spread of HIV grapple with "what if" questions on the scale of millions of people and decades of time. They need a way to predict the impact of many potential interventions, alone or in combination. In two papers to be presented at the 2012 International AIDS Society Conference in Washington, D.C., Brandon Marshall, assistant professor of epidemiology at Brown University, will unveil a computer program calibrated to model accurately the spread of HIV in New York City over a decade and to make specific predictions about the future of the epidemic under various intervention scenarios.

"It reflects what's seen in the real world," said Marshall. "What we're trying to do is identify the ideal combination of interventions to reduce HIV most dramatically in injection drug users."

In an analysis that he'll present at 11 a.m. in Session Room 6 on Friday, July 27, Marshall projects that with no change in New York City's current programs, the infection rate among injection drug users will be 2.1 per 1,000 in 2040. Expanding HIV testing would drop the rate only 12 percent to 1.9 per 1,000; increasing drug treatment would reduce the rate 26 percent to 1.6 per 1,000; providing earlier delivery of antiretroviral therapy and better adherence would drop the rate 45 percent to 1.2 per 1,000; and expanding needle exchange programs would reduce the rate 34 percent to 1.4 per 1,000. Most importantly, doing all four of those things would cut the rate by more than 60 percent, to 0.8 per 1,000.

"These results show that a comprehensive set of proven interventions must be scaled up immediately if we are to substantially reduce the spread of HIV among drug users," Marshall said.

Virtual reality, real choices

The model is unique in that it creates a virtual reality of 150,000 "agents," a programming term for simulated individuals, who in the case of the model, engage in drug use and sexual activity like real people.

Like characters in an all-too-serious video game, the agents behave in a world governed by biological rules, such as how often the virus can be transmitted through encounters such as unprotected gay sex or needle sharing.

With each run of the model, agents accumulate a detailed life history. For example, in one run, agent 89,425, who is male and has sex with men, could end up injecting drugs. He participates in needle exchanges, but according to the built-in probabilities, in year three he shares needles multiple times with another injection drug user with whom he is also having unprotected sex. In the last of those encounters, agent 89,425 becomes infected with HIV. In year four he starts participating in drug treatment and in year five he gets tested for HIV, starts antiretroviral treatment, and reduces the frequency with which he has unprotected sex. Because he always takes his HIV medications, he never transmits the virus further.

That level of individual detail allows for a detailed examination of transmission networks and how interventions affect them.

"With this model you can really look at the microconnections between people," said Marshall, who began working on the model as a postdoctoral fellow at Columbia University and has continued to develop it since coming to Brown in January. "That's something that we're really excited about."

To calibrate the model, Marshall and his colleagues found the best New York City data they could about how many people use drugs, what percentage of people were gay or lesbian, the probabilities of engaging in unprotected sex and needle sharing, viral transmission, access to treatment, treatment effectiveness, participation in drug treatment, progression from HIV infection to AIDS, and many more behavioral, social and medical factors. They also continuously calibrated it until the model could faithfully reproduce the infection rates among injection drug users that were known to occur in New York between 1992 and 2002.

And they don't just run the simulation once. They run it thousands of times on a supercomputer at Brown to be sure the results they see are reliable.

Future applications

At Brown, Marshall is continuing to work on other aspects of the model, including an analysis of the cost effectiveness of each intervention and their combinations. Cost is, after all, another fact of life that policymakers and public health officials must weigh.

And then there's the frustrating insight that the infection rate, even with four strengthened interventions underway, didn't reduce the projected epidemic by much more than half.

"I actually expected something larger," Marshall said. "That speaks to how hard we have to work to make sure that drug users can access and benefit from proven interventions to reduce the spread of HIV."

###

Marshall's collaborators on the model include Magdalena Paczkowski, Lars Seemann, Barbara Tempalski, Enrique Pouget, Sandro Galea, and Samuel Friedman.

The National Institutes of Health and the Lifespan/Tufts/Brown Center for AIDS Research provide financial support for the model's continued development.

Volkswagen earnings growth slowed by tech costs and euro crisis

BERLIN (Reuters) - Germany's Volkswagen AG suffered a slowdown in underlying profit growth in the second quarter, as costs of a technology overhaul and Europe's deepening debt crisis weighed on the car maker's earnings.

Operating profit grew 3.4 percent to 3.28 billion euros (2.56 billion pounds), less than the 10 percent achieved in the first quarter but beating an average analyst forecast of 3.20 billion, as earnings increased at luxury marque Audi and VW's namesake brand - the group's two biggest divisions.

Shares in VW, maker of models ranging from the Up city car to the Bentley Continental ultra-luxury sedan, were down 2 percent at 130.75 euros by 1021, while the European sector as a whole <.sxap> was down 1.2 percent.

"VW's broad global presence and its cost-saving production patterns are the best recipe during a crisis," said Frank Schwope, an analyst at Hanover-based NordLB. "The results are strong but sales gains may slow in the second half, even at VW."

Europe's largest car maker increased first-half deliveries across its multi-brand group by 8.9 percent to 4.45 million autos. The Wolfsburg-based company has a goal of boosting sales to 10 million vehicles by 2018 and to surpass Toyota Motor Corp and General Motors Co to become the world's biggest car maker.

"Our strong position in international markets will enable us to outperform the market as a whole, despite the challenging environment," said VW Chief Executive Officer Martin Winterkorn in a statement.

Winterkorn's success in leading VW meant he enjoyed a near doubling of his pay last year to 17.5 million euros including bonuses, making him the top-earning chief of any of Germany's top 30 companies.

GROWING SALES

Benefiting from expanding operations in China, the United States and eastern Europe, VW's second-quarter group revenue surged 19.2 percent to 48.05 billion euros, reflecting growing sales of models such as the VW Tiguan and Audi Q3 compact SUVs and Audi's A6 sedan.

The manufacturer reaffirmed its view that deliveries and revenue will increase this year, while repeating a goal to match last year's record operating profit of 11.3 billion euros.

VW's results suggest the group is weathering the crisis while mass market rivals including Ford Motor Co and PSA Peugeot Citroen are floundering.

Ford on Wednesday almost doubled the loss it expects to incur in austerity-strapped European markets this year to more than $1 billion, a situation that will cause overall operating earnings to fall rather than hold steady in 2012.

Battling with overcapacity and sagging demand, Peugeot posted a 662 million euro first-half auto-division loss as it plans to weed out 8,000 French jobs and close a factory near Paris. Europe's No. 2 car maker had already announced 6,000 European redundancies last year.

Conversely VW's Spanish division Seat managed to shrink its quarterly operating loss by more than half to 13 million euros while boosting deliveries 20 percent to 119,000 vehicles.

Yet VW is also bracing for a tougher second half as sagging customer demand and growing discounts hurt manufacturers. VW's six-month group deliveries in western Europe excluding Germany declined 5.7 percent.

VW is engaged in pricing actions to promote the expiring Golf hatchback ahead of an overhauled version of its best-selling model due to hit showrooms in the final quarter.

The company is faced with upfront costs for a new architecture to assemble small and medium-sized vehicles that may absorb about 15 billion euros of costs through 2016, almost a quarter of total planned group spending of 62.4 billion on plants, products and equipment.

"The new modular building kit places a considerable weight on earnings in the short run but will prove a boon over time," NordLB's Schwope said.

The new technology will enhance VW's use of component-sharing and help reduce production costs 20 percent and assembly times 30 percent, VW has said.

Macedonia Suspects Boskoski of Unsolved Murder :: Balkan Insight

Ljube Boskoski in court

Macedonian police on Tuesday arrested nine other former police officials who are also suspected in relation to the unsolved murder of Tusevski, a figure from the Skopje underworld.

?There are 15 suspects in total. Nine were apprehended this morning and police are still searching for the other six people,? police spokesperson Ivo Kotevski said, adding that four suspects are foreign nationals.

?Three Serbian nationals, Predrag Cubrilo, Milan Ilic and Milorad Kovacevic, are suspected as direct perpetrators of the murder. Criminal charges have been raised against them and we will issue an international arrest warrant,? Kotevski explained.

Boskoski, who still leads the opposition United for Macedonia party, is suspected of having commissioned the murder of Tusevski in 2001, the police say.

He is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence in a Skopje prison for obtaining illegal financial support for his political campaign.

Zoran Trajkovski, Boskoski?s former security chief when he was police minister, is among the arrested.

According to police, Tusevski, who then had poor relations with the then Police Minister Boskoski, was killed by the police. Former officials then covered up the clues and hindered the investigation.

Prior to the arrest, police questioned several people close to the businessman Orce Korunovski, who was later killed in Bulgaria. He was also suspected of having ordered the killing.

?These people informed [the police] that Boskoski gave consent for the killing of Tusevski,? a source from the investigation who wished to stay anonymous told Balkan Insight.

Boskoski denies the claims.

?This is the biggest nonsense that they could have come up with. It was well known that I was in bad relations with Korunoski and he, in fact, threatened me. Tusevski on the other hand was close to the ex-police minister, Dosta Dimovska,? Boskoski said in a telephone statement from Idrizovo prison given to Balkan Insight.

He confirmed that a prosecutor and two police inspector have been questioning him about the murder but he had nothing to tell them, so the meeting ended after 10 minutes.

Boskoski?s wife, Violeta, and his party, United for Macedonia, insist that Boskoski is being framed by the ruling VMRO DPMNE party of Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski.

?Although he was already jailed [in November 2011] in a framed case, the government is now pressuring individuals to appear as protected witnesses and say that Boskoski is behind this murder as well,? Violeta Boskoska said.

Boskoski, who also has Croatian citizenship, is also being prosecuted in Pula, Croatia, for the killing of Pakistani migrants that took place in Macedonia when he was Interior Minister. The trial in the Pula court will take place in October and November.

His family also claims that the Macedonian government has been pressuring people to go and testify as witnesses in that case.

Boskoski was prosecuted by the Hague war crimes tribunal, ICTY, for breaking international humanitarian law in the 2001 conflict in Macedonia, but after four years in detention he was acquitted. During the election campaign of 2011, he was a sharp critic of the Prime Minister Gruevski?s party.

If found guilty, the arrested suspects face sentences ranging from 10 years to life in prison.

Asbestos & Industrial Diseases | | Whats My Claim WorthWhats My ...

What?s My Claim Worth have extensive?experience dealing with asbestos related illnesses and diseases. If you are sufferring from an asbestos related illness or disease, you may be entitled to a personal injury compensation claim.? At What?s My Claim Worth our expert? team of lawyers will fight for the compansation that you deserve.

There are many serious illness and diseases which can be directly linked to, or are directly caused by asbestos exposure.? At What?s My Claim Worth , our team understands the issues affecting you due to an asbestos related illness or disease and that it can be a very difficult and daunting time for both you and your family.? We fight fearlessly to achieve the best outcome for you whilst offering sensitivity, professionalism and unparalleled legal expertise.?

?

?What is Asbestos?

Asbestos is the term that refers to a group of minerals made of long, crystal fibres which are heat resistant and extremely strong.? When disturbed, through for example drilling or deterioation, it releases a very fine dust containing asbestos fibres which when breathed in can pose very serious health risks.

Asbestos was widely used in the past for construction and in buildings for insulation before it was altogether banned in 1999.?

There are four types of asbestos related diseases that you are able to claim compensation for: Asbestosis, Lung Cancer, Mesothelioma and Pleural Thickening.

?

Asbestosis

This is caused by inhaling large amount of asbestos dust or fibres which causes permanent scarring of the lungs leading to breathing problems.?? It is not possible to repair the damage caused by asbestos and for some people their condition may deteriorate further over time.? People with asbestosis have a greater risk of developing other serious diseases.

?

?Lung Cancer

While there can be other causes of lung cancer, exposure to asbestos can significantly increase this risk.? Symptoms of lung cancer include coughing, shortness of breath and unexpected weight loss and usually occur at least 20 years after the initial exposure to asbestos.? Whether asbestos exposure occurs in the workplace or elsewhere, there are numerous parties who may be held liable.

?

Mesothelioma

The only known cause of mesothelioma is asbestos exposure and even minimal amounts of exposure can cause the disease.? It is a form of cancer which affects the lining of the lungs and in some cases also the lining of the abdomen and the heart.? It usually takes between 10 and 50 years to develop after the initial exposure.

?

Pleural Thickening

This is when areas of the lining of the lung become thicker and prevent the lungs from expanding normally, leading to breathlessness.? Pleural thickening also increases the chances of developing a more serious condition later in life.? As with asbestosis, it is caused by inhaling asbestos dust and fibres and indicates high levels of exposure.? Plueral thicking can also deteriorate or lead to more serious asbestos-related conditions such as lung cancer or mesothelioma

?

Can I Claim Compensation?

All employers have a duty to protect their employees against hazardous substances.? If you develop an asbestos related disease due to employment you may be able to claim compensation.? In addition, you may be entitled to receive benefits; the most common benefit entitlement is Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (IIDB).

?

Previous Expertise

What?s My Claim Worth successfully recovered ?117,000 compensation for a client who was diagnosed with asbestos related mesothelioma.? The client was regularly exposed to asbestos dust during the course of his employment between 1965 and 1986.? His role involved mixing asbestos powder to be placed into old bearings in the company?s service department.? What?s My Claim Worth traced insurers for the company and recovered the compensation from them within 6 months of the initial instruction by the client.

?

Cardinals blast Kershaw, Dodgers

By R.B. FALLSTROM

AP Sports Writer

Associated Press Sports

updated 10:28 p.m. ET July 24, 2012

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Adam Wainwright's first two RBIs of the season helped knock out Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw in the sixth inning in a game that began in 103-degree heat as the St. Louis Cardinals ended Los Angeles' five-game winning streak with an 8-2 victory on Tuesday night.

Wainwright (8-10) allowed two runs and seven hits with seven strikeouts in 7 1-3 innings.

He was a career .223 hitter entering the year with five homers and 23 RBIs but was batting .079 (3-for-38) with three singles and 17 strikeouts this season.

Wainwright doubled to left-center with two outs in the fifth for St. Louis' first run, then scored the tying run on Rafael Furcal's single. After Daniel Descalso was intentionally walked to load the bases in the sixth, Wainwright walked on five pitches to give the Cardinals a two-run lead in a six-run sixth that put them up 8-2.

The Cardinals have won four of five and ended the Dodgers' eight-game winning streak, which had tied the franchise's best since moving to Los Angeles.

Kershaw (7-6) gave up eight runs and seven hits in 5 2-3 innings, the second-most runs ever allowed by the 2011 NL Cy Young winner. Kershaw, who entered with a 2.74 ERA that ranked among the NL leaders, gave up a career-worst nine runs in 4 2-3 innings on April 26, 2009 at Colorado.

Kershaw sailed through the first four innings in 51 pitches, then needed 53 against 14 batters to get his last five outs.

Kershaw allowed two runs in 14 innings the two starts before Tuesday and threw a shutout against the Cardinals in Los Angeles in May. The Dodgers gave him a vote of confidence after Wainwright's walk, leaving him in, but Kershaw lasted just one more hitter before departing after Furcal's two-run infield hit.

Wainwright (8-10) allowed two runs and seven hits with seven strikeouts in 7 1-3 innings, in addition to providing two of the biggest at-bats.

Descalso scored from second on Furcal's infield hit, fielded up the middle by shortstop Luis Cruz, and Allen Craig added a two-run double off Josh Lindblom.

Lance Berkman was taken out for a pinch-runner not long after getting hit by a pitch on the right knee in the third inning by a breaking ball. Berkman went to first base after visiting with a trainer, but jogged to second on a single by Descalso and was removed after a chat with third base coach Jose Oquendo.

Berkman batted seventh for the first time since 2010 and for just the 18th time in his career, bumped down in the order because David Freese entered 10-for-18 during a six-game streak combined with the fact he's just 4-for-22 with 22 RBIs since coming off the 15-day disabled list to start the second half without a rehab stint following right knee surgery in late May.

The Dodgers had scored only two runs in 28 2-3 innings against Wainwright in St. Louis before getting two in the fourth. Four straight batters reached safely with one out, and Juan Rivera and Cruz had an RBI apiece.

Wainwright is 3-1 with a 1.09 ERA at home against the Dodgers.

NOTES: A crew of three umpires began the game with Eric Cooper out sick and a replacement en route. There were no issues before John Tumpane arrived in time for the bottom of the third. ... Kyle Lohse (10-2, 2.71) is fifth in the NL in ERA entering Wednesday night's matchup against Aaron Harang (7-5, 3.46), who has lost his last four decisions against St. Louis. ... Wainwright threw first-pitch strikes to 23 of 30 hitters.
